RUTH ANN LYCANS, 77, of Proctorville, Ohio, formerly of Logan, W.Va., and Pikeville, Ky., entered eternal rest Saturday, September 28, 2013. Ruth was born in Logan, W.Va., on June 9, 1936, daughter of the late Guy F. and Lona Gore. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Lycans; her son, Sonny Lycans; and her sisters, Margaret, Estelle, Joanne, Judy, Peggy and Polly. Ruth was sassy, made friends with nearly everyone she met, loved to garden and decorate, and was a helluva cook, as anyone who dined at her table can attest. She was famous for her fried chicken, biscuits, chicken and dumplings, and lemon pie. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Lycans Adkins and husband Gary of Houston, Texas; son, Charles Lycans and wife Jeanne of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; sisters, Lana Randan and husband Larry, Jenny Jeffrey and husband Pete, Helen Killen and Mary Gore; brother, Simon Gore and wife Christine; grandchildren, Rachel McCary, Madonna Cox and Mason Lycans; great-grandchildren, Ishmael May, Emily Keene, Lorin Holloway, Baylin Holloway, Kama McCary, Aston McCary and Gavin McCary; great- great-grandchild, Isabella May; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio, by Rev. Rob Holley. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio.
