RUTH MOURNING LAPOLE, 91, of Kenova, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born November 26, 1921, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a daughter of the late William and Cynthia Booth Combs. Ruth was a member for more than 50 years of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Missionary Circle and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Andrew Mourning, and her second husband, Lindsey Lapole; two sons, Michael Rex Mourning and Earl Andrew Mourning Jr.; and two granddaughters, Sherry and Christine. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Powell of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Linda Perry of Kenova; nine grandchildren, Chauncey, Brian, Jimmy, Jamie, Lori, Suzanne, Mike Jr., Kathy and Michelle; 19 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Barbara Lloyd. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people at Gentiva Home Health for taking such precious care of Ruth. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Rollins Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Byard officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
