ELIZABETH C. ADKINS, 85, of Pedro, Ohio, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Logan, W.Va., native was born March 6, 1927, the daughter of the late Ira Lon and Ora Salmons Hager-Massie. She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett Adkins, who passed away March 19, 1993. Mrs. Adkins attended Proctorville schools and was a nurse's aid for 18 years for the Lawrence County General Hospital. She was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of Souls Harbor Church in Raceland, Ky. Mrs. Adkins enjoyed sewing, gardening, watching soap operas, and donating her time to help people in need that lived in her community. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Harvey Nathaniel Hager, Ruford Dalford Hager, Oscar Thurman Hager, William Kenneth Hager, Lloyd Edward Hager, and James Earl Hager; two sisters, Lula Irene Hager Lucas and Betty Lou Hager Abner; and three grandchildren, Terry Michael Adkins Jr., Spicie Renee Adkins and Angel Dawn McGinnis. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Canzazy and Larry Edwards of West Hamlin, W.Va., Carol and Al Knotts of Ashland, and Linda and Doug Collins of Ironton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Everett Jr. and Sherri Adkins of Pedro, David and Regina Adkins of Kitts Hill, and Terry and Becky Adkins of South Point; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Addie Mae Hager Wheeler of Way Cross, Ga., Rebecca Jean Hager Campbell of Florida, Mary Margaret Hager Wilson of Missouri, and Evelyn Ruth Hager Gannon of Ironton; and several special friends, including Marsha Gail Adkins and Jerry Bayless. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, OH, with Rev. Timothy Gillette officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
