CECIL ERNEST DAVIS, 83, of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church by Rev. Bonnie Boyce and Rev. Rick Wilson. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, W.Va. He was born January 7, 1929, in Wayne, W.Va., a son of the late Hendrix and Laura Lambert Davis. Cecil was a retired machinist for Owens-Illinois and was a U.S. Marine having served during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Spring Valley Presbyterian Church where he served as Scout Leader, Elder and taught Sunday school. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Frankie Blankenship, Dorothy Yates, Ruby Adkins, Esta Lipking; two brothers, Leslie and Benny "Boke" Davis; and a granddaughter, Amber Chambers Townson. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Juanita Ross Davis; two sons Michael Davis and Jeffrey Davis, both of Huntington; two sisters Bessie Osburn of Lavalette, W.Va., Edith Shourds of Evansville, Ind.; a loving granddaughter Kristin Dygert and husband Josh; and three great-grandchildren that he loved so much, Kayla Newman, Jason "Bubby" Townson, Jr., Collin Dygert; and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spring Valley Presbyterian Church.
