RUSSELL SCOTT, 69, of East Moline, Ill., died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at St, Mary's Hospital at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Russell was born on May 12, 1943, in Huntington, West Virginia, the son of Jack W. and Anne R. (Russell) Scott. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Randy Scott. He married Nora Hager. He attended Marshall University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. Russell began working at The Herald-Dispatch in 1966 and continued working there until 1982. He then worked for the Moline Dispatch for 25 years, retiring in 2007. Russell wrote a nationally syndicated Poker Column called "Lucky Dog Poker" from 2005 until May 2012. He was a member of Moline Kiwanis and Rotary. Russell enjoyed golf very much. He is survived by Nora Scott; children Valerie (Jody) Newkirk of Geneseo, Ill., Russ Scott, Jr., of Huntington, W.Va., and Michael (Jamie) Scott of Moline, Ill.; three grandchildren, Madeline, Reno and Berlin; a sister Michelle (Don) Spreacker of Huntington; nieces and nephews Douglas Scott-Gaddy, Cheryl Scott, William Scott and James Randall Scott. Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Huntington, by Father Dean Borgmeyer. Interment will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. There will be a visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington.
