BROOKS PERRY JR., 60, of Dunlow, W.Va., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky., after a 9-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, W.Va., by Brother Verlin Perry and Brother Emanuel Ferguson. Burial will follow at the Brooks Perry Jr. Cemetery at Dunlow. He was born July 25, 1949, at Kermit, W.Va., a son of the late Brooks and Laura Belle Spaulding Perry. He was a lease operator for Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation, and was a member of the Fairmount United Baptist Church at Dunlow since 1976, where he served as deacon and treasurer. Brooks was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was shot down in a helicopter crash in 1970, and was presented the Bronze Star and other medals for bravery and heroism. He may have lost the battle in Vietnam, but he has won the war. Now he is at peace with God. Welcome home soldier. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Letha Chaffin and Helen Blevins, and a sister-in-law, Wanda Perry. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 39 years, Linda Jonas Perry; two loving and caring daughters, Angel Perry Maynard Bradshaw and husband Millard, and Samantha Perry Skean and husband Jamie, all of Wayne; five grandsons, Dustin Perry, Caleb Maynard, Jared Maynard, Branham Skean and Logan Bradshaw; five sisters, Phyllis Vernatter and husband Ted of Attica, Mich., Billie Carol Lansing and husband Wade of Fort Gay, W.Va., Ledonna "Tina" Stasik and husband Bill of Cairo, Mich., Yvonne Courtney and husband Dean of Catlettsburg, Ky., Geneva Megraw of Virginia; eight brothers, Wetzel Perry and wife Lou and LeRoy Perry and wife Karen, all of Dunlow, Verlin Perry of Louisville, Ky., Sam Perry and wife Ann of Clarksburg, W.Va., Charles Perry and wife Shelia of Chesapeake, Ohio, Ralph Perry and wife Dreama of Crum, W.Va., Greg Perry and wife Flo of Prichard, W.Va., and Robert Moore and wife Donna of Fort Gay, W.Va.; a special sister-in-law, Patricia Brewer and husband Hubert of Kermit, W.Va., a special brother-in-law, James Chaffin of Genoa, W.Va.; a special cousin, Larry Brown of Wayne, W.Va.; a special friend, Larry Joe Maynard of Lavalette, W.Va.; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Morris Funeral Home.
