ORVA CLIFFORD "Cliff" DAVIDSON JR., 83, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, January 19, 2010. He and his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Hedrick Davidson, resided in Milton. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2010, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Rev. Allen Stewart officiating. Bruce Davidson, Richard Paskell, Chuck Gullakson, Dane Gullakson, Rick Tuebner, and Phil Sanford will serve as pallbearers. Cliff was the son of the late O.C. Davidson Sr., and Ruby Ellen Nash Davidson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gus Davidson and sister Lois Shull. He is survived by one sister, Dorcas Sanford of Barboursville. He was loved and cherished by his two daughters, Ruth Anne (Richard) Paskell of Culloden and Linda (Chuck) Gullakson of Jacksonville, Fla., along with four grandchildren, Beth Anne (Rick) Teubner and great-granddaughter Ella Maria of Lebanon, Ohio, Emily Paskell of Denton, Texas, and Dane and Meredith Gullakson of Jacksonville, Fla. During World War II, Cliff served in the U.S. Navy as a Bugler 1st Class on the USS Guam. He received an Associate's Degree from Marshall College and was retired from C&P Telephone Company. He was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member at Milton Baptist Church. His great love of music led to his hobbies of dulcimer making and acoustic instrument repair. He was a master craftsman in woodworking. Cliff will be remembered as a Christ-like man who never knew a stranger, as a great storyteller, and as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. His family would like to thank his physicians, Drs. Hudak, Miller, Snavely and Khitan, and the caring staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Hospice House. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Milton Baptist Church or Hospice House of Huntington.
