WILLIAM A. KING, 78, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009, at the Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church by Rev. Patrick Elliott. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Memory Gardens. William was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the WV National Guard. He retired with 36 years of service from the Greyhound Bus Lines. He was a member of the Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church. William was born on August 25, 1931, in Huntington, the son of the late Asa Herman and Myrtle Rose King. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Whaley King; two daughters and son-in-law, Lori and Sam Schaffer and Beth King of Huntington; two grandsons, Joseph King and Nathan Butcher; five sisters, Jean Johnson and Lucy Dick of Huntington, Patsy Riehm of Seabring, Fla., Betty Lee of Boynton, Fla., and Juanita Cantrell of Marysville, Ohio. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church, Spring Valley Drive, Huntington. Contributions may be made to the Spring valley Baptist Church or Hospice House of Huntington. Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, is in charge of arrangements.
