ROBERT ELLIS "BOB" TWEEL, 76, of Huntington, W.Va., died Thursday, April 30, 2009, in Naples Community Hospital, Naples, Fla. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Highlawn Presbyterian Church, Huntington, with Rev. Dr. R. Jackson Haga and Rev. Beth Bondurant officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. He was born May 3, 1932, in Huntington, a son of the late Saied George and Nazah Tweel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Tweel and two brothers, Naseeb and Roger Tweel. He graduated from Marshall (College) University. Bob was the band director and music teacher at Huntington East High School for 36 years and two years at the consolidated Huntington High School. He was a member of Highlawn Presbyterian Church and had served as choir director at various churches in the area. He was a former member of the WV Music Educators Association, National Education Association and former member and treasurer of the National Jazz Association. He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Therese S. Tweel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Joe McConaghy of Naples, Fla., and Kathryn and Richard Schaum of Chesapeake, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Harry K. and Marianne Tweel of Huntington; several nieces, nephews, a host of friends, former students and their supportive parents. Those who wish, may make memorial contributions to Highlawn Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers will be Scott Wood, Charlie Shoemaker III, Randy Ash, David Gesner, Mike Wilson and Scott Woodard.
